A "Series" class is a number of classes conducted on the same day of the week so that participants have a regular weekly routine. Particular lessons in technique, art/colour theory are included within classes. During a weekly "series" class we emphasize learning and developing as painters.
All of our weekly series classes are taught by Louise Scott-Bushell CDA. Louise has been painting for approximately 23 years; studying with many different artist-designers where she has learned a variety of different techniques and skills. She has been rated as an excellent teacher by her students.

In the "open studio" format, students select a project that they want to work on. We have an extensive selection of patterns and books. Students from advanced beginners to advanced levels are welcome in this class. As everyone works at their own speed, there is no requirement for homework between the classes. Students may work on surfaces from their own supply, or order from us.
Students often find inspiration in these classes by seeing what others are working on.

Dates: Fall Session 9 weeks
Sept 22, 29, Oct 6, 13, 20, Nov 5, 10, 17, Dec 1
Time: 7:00 - 10pm
Louise has designed several new pieces for this class. Techniques will include lots of brush mixing that lends itself to greater realism. The first is a pretty Christmas banner - painted on inexpensive baskets that would make lovely Christmas gifts filled with some home-made goodies. Next will be a set of 3 ornaments; this will be taught early so if you want to make multilpes as gifts you will have sufficient time. The last design, utilises grisaille techniques with transparent glazes to develop realistic grapes and leaves on a set of serving pieces that includes a glass and wood cheese tray, a cracker basket and a bottle yoke that holds wine glasses over a wine bottle. This will be lovely to use during your holiday entertaining.
Dates: Sept 23, 30, Oct 7, 14, 21, Nov 4, 11, 25, Dec 2, 9

This class is for students who have completed a beginner level or have a little experience in oil painting. As it will be harvest time when classes will begin, Louise thought it was appropriate to paint some autumn fruit so students will start with a beautiful streaked apple design painted on a clock. Next will be a Sherry Nelson design that features columbines and a bluebird. Students will get practice in many basic techniques especially brush mixing of colours in painting this design.
The class will progress at a suitable speed for students to feel confident and develop their skills. If there is time, students will paint a realistic still-life featuring a candleholder with different lighting techniques. The alternative, if there is not sufficient time for the still life will be to paint several Christmas ornaments.
